The ancient peoples of Europe lived not by a calendar of months and days, but by observing and listening from to the signals from nature. Lughnasadh was one of the four most important festivals of the year to the Celtic peoples of what is now northern Europe, Ireland and the British Isles.It takes place around the time of the grain harvest, and therefore coincides with the height of summer.
