The ancient peoples of Europe lived not by a calendar of months and days, but by observing and listening from to the signals from nature. Beltane was one of the four most important festivals of the year to the Celtic peoples of what is now northern Europe, Ireland and the British Isles. Beltane is celebrated at the beginning of the sun’s final waxing cycle towards its highest point in late June.
